Kidney specialist service to start soon in Nepal: Prime Minister

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that kidney specialist services will be launched in Nepal soon.

Addressing an awareness program organized on the occasion of World Kidney Day at Basantapur in Kathmandu on Thursday, Prime Minister said that experts including Dr. Divyasingh Shah, Dean of Neurologists and Institute of Medical Studies were working to establish such services soon.

Stating that government intends to go far for treatment, first aid, laboratory and specialist doctors, Prime Minister said that everyone should be vigilant as kidney disease can happen to anyone.

Prime Minister also reminded that he had to go abroad as there was no specialist service in the country for the first time kidney transplant.

Kidney disease affects 10 percent of world's population. After kidney failure, transplantation and blood purification are the only two options.

Government has provided free kidney transplant and blood purification. Kidney Day is celebrated all over the world including Nepal on Thursday with the slogan of 'Healthy Life with Kidney Disease'.
