Charge for using another bank's ATM from 14 January

Charge for using one bank's ATM in another bank will start from 14 January. Nepal Rastra Bank has made an arrangement to charge for transactions in inter-bank ATMs.

NRB Payment System Department has issued a circular for banks and financial institutions to make only two transactions per month free of cost in inter-bank ATMs from 14 January.

Central bank has stated that a maximum of Rs 20 can be charged for more than two transactions.

"When using an ATM card issued by a bank or financial institution at the ATM of another bank and financial institution in the country, minimum of two transactions per month will be free and a maximum of Rs 20 per transaction will be charged for more than two transactions," said a circular issued by NRB Payment System Department.

Similarly, central bank has made arrangements to charge for mobile, internet and SMS banking only by giving advance notice.

"Adequate security arrangements should be made in e-commerce to ensure that customers can retrieve mobile, internet and SMS banking usernames and passwords if they are lost or forgotten," said NRB.

NRB had earlier made an arrangement not to charge ATM fees during the epidemic.
