Ekadashi fair not to be held in Budhanilkantha

Ekadashi fair, which is held every year on the day of Haribodhani Ekadashi at Budhanilkantha temple, will not be held this year. Haribodhani Ekadashi fair has been completely closed this year due to the risk of Covid-19 spreading globally.

Every year a special fair was held in Budhanilkantha for five days from Kartik Shukla Ekadashi to full moon. Even though a large number of devotees come to visit Narayansthan from Ashadh Shukla Ekadashi, Kartik Shukla temple used to be very crowded for five days.

Due to corona virus, fair from Ekadashi to Purnima has been completely banned this year.

Swami Nigmananda of temple informed that temple premises have been closed from today till November 30. Considering the risk of infection, devotees have been barred from performing darshan till next Monday.

There is a religious belief that Lord Vishnu, who slept in Milky Way on full moon day of Ashadh Shukla, wakes up on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, i.e. Haribodhani Ekadashi, and fasts for four months to fulfill his aspirations.
