Construction work of a large park has been started in Jawalakhel area of Lalitpur metropolis.
On the occasion of the fifth constitution day, Lalitpur Metropolitan City has started construction of an old, child-friendly park on a 200-square-meter public land in Jawalakhel.
Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan laid the foundation stone of Ganeshman-Machhindra Park in a program on Saturday.
Lalitpur Municipal Corporation has provided Rs. 77.34 million for the construction of the park under the Municipal Pride Project.
Mayor Maharjan said that construction of the park has been started with the objective of protecting greenery from machines in the concept of Green and Blue Project.
Mayor, Maharjan said that the construction of the park has been given importance to protect open space and metropolis has taken a policy of not allowing any construction of buildings in the open space.
Park is designed by Tree Foundation. Construction of the park will be completed by October 10.
