Leaders, including Govinda Raj Joshi Expelled from Congress for Five Years

Nepali Congress Disciplinary Committee has expelled leaders, including former joint general secretary Govinda Raj Joshi, from the party for five years.

The Disciplinary Committee led by Bhishma Raj Aangdembe has expelled Govinda Raj Joshi of Tanahun and Pushkar Nath Ojha of Kailali from the party for five years for playing a role in defeating the official candidate in the 2014 election.

According to the Disciplinary Committee, Congress Secretary Ram Bahadur Bista of Dadeldhura has been expelled from the party for three years. The committee has claimed that the disciplinary action was taken by gathering audio and video evidence saying that it played a role in defeating its candidate.

Leader Joshi had decided to contest against Ram Chandra Poudel from Tanahu-1. However, the Election Commission had rejected Joshi's candidature as the case against him was pending in the Supreme Court.

Although the committee asked Joshi and Ojha for clarification, they did not get a satisfactory answer.

Similarly, Ojha, who was from Kailali, was accused of sabotaging Congress candidate Arju Deuba. Arju is also the wife of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. Ojha is also a former Minister of State.
