Western sanctions on China

Western nations have imposed sanctions on China. Ban is said to be due to "repression" of Muslim Uighur minority.

According to BBC, visit of a high-ranking Chinese official has been restricted to property freezes. Ban was imposed in collaboration with the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

China has been accused of controlling and torturing more than a million Uighur minorities. EU officials has also been accused of forced labor and sexual violence.

China has also reacted to the West's move by imposing sanctions on EU officials. China has protested the EU sanctions, saying it would jeopardize its sovereignty.
