Saitama the Buddhist temple in Japan allow same sex marriage

LGBTQ marriages are still not considered legal in all parts of Japan yet the Buddhist temple in Saitama is supervising more LGBTQ marriages for the promotion of equal rights in Japan.

Saimyouji Temple is one of those places where same-sex couples can register a civil partnership and have a traditional Buddhist wedding ceremony by paying ¥200,000 per couple.

The couple receives holy water and Buddhist beads from the monk before they exchange vows in front of the statue completing the marriage ritual with monk praying to the Amida Nyorai Buddha statue for the couple’s new life together by offering the incense to the statue.

The temple’s head monk Myokan Senda hold frequent seminars raising LGBTQ awareness and promoting knowledge about gender equality time and again for awaring people regarding marriage rights.
