Preparing to stop illegal entry of mobile phones

Entrepreneurs have been saying that 40 percent of the total mobiles enter Nepal illegally due to open border checkpoints.

Nepal Mobile Phone Supply Association has been saying that business is in crisis due to the trade of illegal mobiles.

Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTAA) is in the final stages of preparing to stop the illegal import of mobile phones in Nepal to address the grievances of businessmen.

Imports of mobile phones skyrocketed after Lockdown in Nepal from last April to July.

After Corona, the demand has increased as the work has started to be done online, but businessmen have been saying that the import has also increased as the illegal import has been stopped.

So far, there is no technology to turn off unregistered mobile phones. But MDMS list mobile phones in whitelists, greylists and blacklists in Nepal.

NEA spokesperson Aryal said that the official blacklisted mobile phones would be lost or stolen and blacklisted mobile phones would be unauthorized.

NEA spokesperson Aryal said that only mobile phones imported from the official company will work in Nepal as the blacklisted mobile phones will be closed.
