Paris lockdowns against 'third wave' of covid-19

The capital of France gearing up to fight against covid-19 and is all set for a month lockdown starting from Friday March 19.

Prime Minister Jean Castex informed that the lockdown will no be strict as before and people will be allowed to come out of home for essential purposes but non-essential businesses will be forced to close but schools will remain open.

People will be allowed to exercise outdoors within 10km (6 miles) of their home and are not allowed to travel to other parts of the country unless they have a valid reason.

Those in the affected areas will have to fill out a form to explain why they have left their homes.

Within the past 24 hours, France has recorded more than 35,000 new infections. PM Castex fears for the third wave of infection with the increasing number of infected cases surging up rapidly. 

Health Minister Olivier Veran said situation is getting worse with around 1200 people admitted to intensive care unit at peak of second wave of virus.

People fear third wave of infection as French government has been slowing to rollout vaccine campaign.

France government said it will resume vaccinating from Friday using the AstraZeneca jab. Mr Castex said that he would also get the vaccine to encourage people to get jab. 

France had suspended the jab before as many of cases blood clots reported  in Europe after the vaccine was administered.
