Death of six people due to lack of oxygen in Jordan

Jordan's health minister decided to resign after the death of six people due to a lack of oxygen while treating Covid-19 patients.

Health Minister Nathir Obeidat was asked to step down by Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh after the deaths were reported at the new government in the town of salt.

Intensive care and maternity units at the facility were reportedly affected by oxygen shortage although there were no reports of fatalities on those wards.

Mr Obeidat stated that he felt a "moral responsibility" for what had happened. An investigation has started for finding out the reason for the shortage of oxygen.

Dr Adnan Abbas, a forensic doctor at Jordan's health ministry, informed that all six patients who died on Saturday were being treated for coronavirus infection.
