Biden's 19 trillion Covid relief package passed

US House of Representatives has approved 19 trillion relief packages proposed by President Joe Biden. Resolution was passed by upper house with a majority was passed by a party majority in lower house on Wednesday.

All but one Democrat voted in favor. But Republican lawmakers have opposed the proposal. BBC quoted White House spokeswoman Jane Sackie as saying that President Biden would sign the agreement on Friday.

Package includes a lump sum of 1,400 per person for most Americans. It said that $300-a-week facility for unemployed would continue until September.

Package appears to have the support of ordinary Americans. March poll by Pew Research Center found that 70 percent of American adults supported it, including 41 percent of Republicans.
