Beijing hit by worst sandstorm “Apocalyptic Skies” in a decade

Beijing the capital of China was covered in thick dust on Monday as it experienced the worst sandstorm in a decade causing an unprecedented spike in air pollution measurements.

The sky was covered by an apocalyptic-looking orange haze aroused by strong winds from Inner Mongolia resulting six deaths, left dozens of people missing and the cancellation of hundreds of flights.

At least 12 provinces in the country, including the capital were affected and the weather continued for a while.

The sandstorms that hit Beijing was historically on a regular basis, but pollution reduction projects -obliged people to halt use of vehicles, power plants, coal fire and started reforestation programs making good improvement in the air quality.

These kinds of sandstorms are harder to control.
