All schools in Sri Lanka to open from April

 

All schools in Sri Lanka will be open from next April. Local Sinhala and Tamil communities have decided to start teaching from April 19 only after the New Year.

Education Minister informed on Monday that necessary preparations are being made to open all schools from April 19. Schools in Sri Lanka were closed from October to Sunday due to the second phase of coronavirus epidemic.

Classes 5, 11 and 13 have been conducted since Monday, while other classes will start from April 19, according to government officials. Before opening all schools, all schools will be required to meet basic health standards and all standards will be followed during the operation.

In Sri Lanka, 87,907 people have been infected with coronavirus so far, of which 527 have died. Coronavirus vaccination campaign has also been launched in the country to control epidemic.
