Vaccination against corona begins in Japan

Vaccination against coronavirus has been started in Japan since Wednesday.

In the first phase, people working in the front lines, including health workers, have been vaccinated, said officials. Priority order has been determined for vaccination.

Officials say those with other priorities will be phased out. Vaccines developed by Pfizer and Bioentech are being developed. Arrangements have been made for vaccination at Tokyo Medical Center, a national hospital in capital Tokyo.

Officials estimate that about 40,000 health workers will be vaccinated in the first phase. On Wednesday alone, about 800 health workers were vaccinated on the first day.

Kazuhiro Araki, head of Tokyo Medical Center, was the first to receive vaccine. Officials claimed that after the vaccination, some people saw a general side effect but no negative side effects.

Officials believed that all would be actively involved in the vaccination campaign and that campaign against corona would be defeated.

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga also said that vaccine was only for the initial phase and that homework was being done to make it accessible to all.

Japan's health ministry decided last Sunday to allow people 16 and older to be vaccinated. Japan, one of the countries most affected by corona virus, has launched its vaccination campaign much later than other influential and developed countries.
