A new era has begun for the United Kingdom after being completed separated from the European Union. The UK has stopped following EU rules, new rules have come into effect for travel, trade, immigration and security co-operation.
Boris Johnson said the UK had "freedom in hands" with the ability to do things "differently and better" when the long Brexit process was over.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, whose wants to take an independent Scotland back into the EU, tweeted: "Scotland will be back soon, Europe. Keep the light on."
UK ministers said warned there will be some disturbance, as new rules come in effect as British firms changes but officials said new border systems are "ready to go".
