Trump's Twitter

Account closed permanently

US President Donald Trump's Twitter account has been shut down forever. Twitter operating company has announced that its account, 'EtdrealDonaldTrump', has been closed forever.

Company officials said on Friday that his Twitter account had been removed because of the risk of violence. Company says Trump was forced to remove his account because he posted a video that violated Twitter's video policy.

Trump was widely criticized after he posted on Twitter a video of a violent incident by his supporters in the US Congress. Anger against Trump was further heightened after he termed the perpetrators of violence as patriots.

Twitter initially removed the video after widespread pressure to remove it. Even then, Twitter shut down Trump’s account for some time, saying he had abused Twitter. Now it is closed permanently.

Many have criticized President Trump for abusing state power and mocking democracy. Some US lawmakers and celebrities have been calling for a ban on Trump's account for years.

On Thursday, Michelle Obama, the wife of former President Barack Obama, said on Twitter that Trump's "monstrous behavior" should be stopped and he should be expelled permanently.

Hundreds of Trump supporters stormed House of Representatives as the US House of Representatives was in the process of formalizing Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election. Four civilians and a police officer were killed in the violence.
