Students burn the idol of Vice Chancellor Singh of Midwestern University

Students of Midwestern University in Birendranagar, Surkhet have burnt the idol of Vice-Chancellor.

Students set fire to the idol of Vice Chancellor Nanda Bahadur Singh at university premises on Monday morning saying that students were attacked and police repressed under the direction of Vice Chancellor.

On Sunday, police had cracked down on students who went to hand over a memorandum to the university's vice-chancellor Nanda Bahadur Singh.

Students had reached to hand over a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor regarding reduction of fees for Hydro Engineering, Corona period, which is being taught in the university without any affiliation.

Students has claimed that police used batons, tear gas and aerial fire on protesting students after vice-chancellor refused to understand memorandum. Some students have been injured in the incident.

Anil Shahi, a former central member of Nepali Union, who had reached office of Vice-Chancellor few months ago to hand over the memorandum, was beaten in his office with the involvement of Vice-Chancellor.
