Police crackdown on RPP's tea party on the occasion of Prithivi Jayanti

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana has accused police of violating independent democratic rights by cracking down on him while celebrating Prithivi Jayanti.

Speaking at a tea party organized by RPP in Kathmandu on the occasion of Prithivi Jayanti and National Unity Day, Rana said that repression in front of Singha Durbar was against democratic system.

Rana said that they were trying to celebrate Unity Day for integrity and sovereignty of the country.

Stating that Hindu Rashtra including monarchy is indispensable for strengthening democracy, Rana said that Rana will continue to fight for it.

Police had intervened in a RPP procession in front of Singha Durbar on Monday saying that restricted area was broken during the celebration of Prithivi Jayanti and National Unity.
