Reconstruction of the historic view tower Dharahara

The National Reconstruction Authority has stated that the reconstruction work of the 20th floor of the tower has been completed.

The tower is being reconstructed in a structure designed to go up to the 20th floor using an elevator from the two underground floors.

NEA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sushil Gyawali informed that work is underway to build a balcony on the 20th floor and said that the public can observe the valley from the same floor.

Gyawali informed that the construction work has been started to be completed within the current fiscal year. He opined that there is a plan to complete the basic works and hand them over to the concerned bodies by mid-July.

The tower was completely damaged in the catastrophic earthquake of 2072 BS. The total estimated cost of the tower reconstruction is Rs 3.45 billion including VAT. The total area is 42.2 ropanis.
