Frustrated Pathao riders destroyed company’s office

Frustrated riders of ride sharing company Pathao sabotaged the company’s office on Monday.

Protestors destroyed office buildings when the negotiation between the riders and the company was taking place. The company was trying to resolve the dispute by introducing new rules for expenses and insurance policies.

Riders have been protesting demanding reduction in the commission. Currently, the company takes back 20 percent in commission out of the fare paid by the passengers while the riders want to bring it down to 8 percent.

Protestors have damaged windows of the office, said DSP Daksha Bahadur Basnet.

The riders group restarted protest today right after the company’s press release which stated that it would not fulfill demands laid down in the 11-point memorandum submitted on December 21.
