Demonstration by royalists in Kathmandu

Royalists, who have been demonstrating their power in major cities of the country, have staged demonstrations in Kathmandu.

They have gathered at Maitighar in Kathmandu from different parts of Kathmandu Valley to protest. Royalists staged a demonstration carrying the national flag with the slogan of returning Hindu nation and monarchy.

A group of youths with the national flag under the banner of Rastriya Shakti Nepal chanted slogans against republic and federal system of government.

Royalists have protested demanding the restoration of monarchy. Royalists have demonstrated their strength in major cities including Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Janakpur.

Earlier, on October 20, former King Gyanendra Shah had given a written message raising serious questions about the role of the parties.

That was understood as a call for royalists to be active. Since then, demonstrations have continued in major cities across the country.
