Claims of significant improvement and progress in health sector: Dr. Karki

Expert Advisor of Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Khem Karki has claimed that government has made significant improvements and progress in the health sector.

In an interview organized by Reporters Club Nepal on Wednesday, Dr. Karki also claimed that COVID-19 infection rate has decreased in Nepal. Dr. Karki said that reduction in the infection rate in Nepal was a matter of happiness.

Stating that government is increasing the capacity for treatment, Dr. Karki mentioned that government has sent money across the country for construction of 6,000 HDUs.

Dr. Karki also informed that government has provided enough beds for the treatment of COVID- 19. Earlier, there were 1595 ICU beds but now 2600 beds are in function, said Dr. Karki.

Dr. Karki also said that a law-making process has been started for the construction of a disease control center.

Karki said that government has taken necessary steps not only for building physical infrastructure but also for skilled manpower. Dr. Karki said that government is preparing to vaccinate Nepali citizens as soon as citizens of other countries get vaccinated against corona.
