29th International Day of Persons with Disabilities

29th International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated on Thursday with various programs.

National Slogan Day is celebrated to ensure the best return after COVID-19: access of persons with disabilities and our commitment for sustainable development.

On the occasion of National Slogan Day, one-day legal orientation program on the rights of persons with disabilities has been held in Kapilvastu. Program was organized by Banganga Municipality with the support of Social Development Division Office Gajehada Kapilbastu, Coordination of Disabled Upliftment Society Kapilbastu.

 Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Chakrapani Aryal said that city has moved ahead addressing grievances of persons with disabilities. Stating that they have been distributing disability cards as per the demand, Aryal urged persons with disabilities who do not have assistive devices to contact the wards and cities.

In the program, white sticks and crutches were also distributed to various people with the help of Social Development Division Office, Gajehada.

Emphasis has been placed on ensuring employment for people with disabilities as 40 percent of people with disabilities have lost their jobs during Corona virus epidemic. This day has been observed on December 3 every year since 1992 at the call of United Nations.
