Stakeholders say millions of rupees will be lost if cinema halls are not opened

Stakeholders in the area have been in crisis as cinema hall could not be reopened after a long period of closure due to Corona.

Even though most of the areas that were closed due to fear of corona infection are open, cinema halls in Nepal are still closed. Stakeholders say that area has become more dilapidated as government has not given permission to open closed cinema halls.

Filmmakers had urged government to open a cinema hall before ten o'clock. Hall operators had complained that millions of rupees of investment had been lost due to non-opening of hall for a long time.

Similarly, films made due to non-opening of cinema halls have not been released. Film Development Board has demanded that cinema sector should also be opened now that all the sectors have been opened.

Board has demanded that cinema halls should be allowed to operate at least 50 percent occupancy, and that government should pay 20 percent of the investment to the producers when the producers' association releases new movies.
