Russian President Putin may resign in January

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he will resign in January. Putin, 68, is preparing to resign after showing signs of Parkinson's disease. Vladimir Putin has been informed that his health condition is not good even after watching the footage.

Putin is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Putin's urging of his longtime girlfriend and two daughters. In Russia, Putin has been Russia's prime minister or president for the past two decades.

Putin recently proposed a constitutional amendment that would allow him to remain in power in Russia until 2036. About 78 percent of Russians have voted in favor of the constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment also bans same-sex marriage.
