Kosovo President Hashim Thasi resigns on Thursday

President Thasi played the role of guerrilla fighter in gaining independence from Serbia in the 1990s. President Thasi is facing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in The Hague.

More than 10,000 people were killed during Kosovo war. Case was registered in the last court in April and judge made the matter public on October 26.

Other three former commanders are accused of committing other serious crimes between March 1998 and September 1999, such as illegally threatening, behaving indecently, spreading violence and eliminating their opponents.

Three former commanders, including accused Thasi, Qadri Veseli, Rexhap Selimi and Jakup Krasniki, will appear in The Hague in a few days. President Thasi has been charged with 10 counts including murder, torture, enforced disappearance and harassment.
