Instructions to clarify about Covid 19 test with four laboratories in Kathmandu

Ministry of Health and Population has directed National Public Health Laboratory to seek clarification on Covid 19 test with four laboratories in Kathmandu.

Speaking at a regular press conference on Sunday, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of Ministry of Health and Population, said that they have directed Star Hospital Center, Diagnostic Laboratory, Surya Health Care and Hams Hospital to seek clarification within 24 hours.

Some time ago, Nepalese who flew from Kathmandu to Hong Kong, Dubai and Japan through Nepal Airlines Corporation tested negative for Covid 19 in a laboratory approved by National Public Health Laboratory and tested positive for Corona.

Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation had written a letter to Ministry of Health on November 13.

Ministry of Health had formed an investigation committee under the coordination of the director of National Health Laboratory to investigate the incident. Spokesperson Gautam said that committee has directed three laboratories to seek clarification.

Although Ministry of Health and Population has imposed a rule on all laboratories testing Covid 19 to store swab samples for one month for negative reports and three months for positive reports, those laboratories have not complied with the rule, said spokesperson Gautam.
