Hong Kong fire death toll rises to 11, 7 Nepalese identified

Death toll from a fire at a Nepali-run restaurant in Yaumatei, Hong Kong, has risen to 11.

Seven of the 11 dead are Nepalese. Nine others have been injured. According to Hong Kong media, condition of three of the injured is critical.

Yuvaraj Kandel, 38, Kritika Kandel, 13, Rajbabu Nepal, 35, Ryan Nepal, 9, and Sher Bahadur Gurung, 39, were involved in the fire on Sunday night. Similarly, 32-year-old Anita Niraula and 40-year-old Binita Tamang also died, said Sahara Hong Kong President Deepak Gurung.

Some people, including children, have been rescued. Injured is being treated at a local hospital.

According to police, fire broke out at a restaurant called Jire Khursani during a birthday celebration. Initial investigations revealed that restaurant was operating without registration, according to Hong Kong Police.
