Flower trade worth Rs. 139.5 million during the festival

Flower garlands worth Rs 139.5 million have been bought and sold during this year's festival.

According to Nepal Floriculture Association Nepal, turnover of garlands has decreased by 36 percent compared to the previous year, but turnover has been much better than expected even in the midst of Corona epidemic.

According to the association, 1.3 million garlands of sayepatri worth Rs. 117 million were sold during the festival.

Sayepatri garlands were sold at an average price of Rs 90 each. Similarly, three lakh makhmaal garlands worth Rs 18 million were sold in Nepal during this period. Average price of a makhmaal garland was Rs 60 per piece.

Similarly, 150,000 makhmaal garlands worth Rs 4.5 million were exported from Nepal during festival, according to the association.

According to the association, the highest turnover of garlands was Rs 81 million in Bagmati while the lowest was Rs 450,000 in Karnali.
