World Vision Day celebrated with the slogan 'Hope for Sight, Celebrate World Sight Day'

World Vision Day is celebrated on Thursday, October 8 with the slogan 'Hope for Vision, Let's Celebrate World Vision Day'.

World Sight Day is celebrated to spread awareness around the world about the problems and solutions of eye treatment and prevention.

Taking the opportunity of the day, Nepal Eye Hospital in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu has inaugurated a child vision clinic. Hospital has launched a pediatric vision clinic with the belief that the problem of blindness can be reduced if the vision problem of children is solved at an early age.

On the occasion, Ram Prasad Pokhrel, founder of Nepal Eye Hospital, inaugurated newly created child vision treatment service and suggested to promote child vision treatment service for children between the ages of 6 and 10.

On the occasion, an eye ambulance was handed over to the hospital at the joint initiative of Rotary Club of Thamel and Rotary Club of Canada.

According to a study, an estimated one hundred and five thousand people in Nepal are blind. One million 25 thousand people have high and moderate type of visual impairment.

According to the statistics of the foundation, about 60 percent of them are women with low vision. Similarly, 1.15 million people are affected by blindness or visual impairment. About 66 percent of blindness is treatable and 16 percent is preventable.
