Transport businessmen announce movement program

Transport businessmen have announced a program of agitation saying that the problems in public transport sector have not been addressed immediately through banks and financial institutions.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday, Central Federation of Public Transport (CPTF) announced a phased agitation from November 21 saying that the five-point demand of banks and financial institutions to address the problems in the transport sector has not been met.

Federation has announced the first phase of protest programs under the slogan "Let's end yesterday's money laundering trend of paying interest by increasing the cycle and increase current banking business in the name of capital investors in a dignified manner".

It is mentioned that the movement programs announced by the federation will be coordinated with various fraternal associations on November 21, delegations will go to the head offices of Nepal Rastra Bank and various banks from November 22 to 26, and door-to-door programs will be held on November 27 and 28.

Similarly, it has been announced that the delegation will visit the government and finance ministry as well as subordinate ministries on November 29 and Nepal Rastra Bank and Nepal Bankers Association office will be cordoned off on November 30.

If the demands are not addressed, federation will hold a nationwide general strike from December 1, said Bharat Nepal, general secretary of the federation. General secretary Nepal said that the booking of long distance vehicles will be open from October 16.

Demands put forward by federation include that the interest on the loan taken by the transport entrepreneur should be completely waived until the situation is comfortable, additional loan should be available at concessional interest rate, loan repayment period should be extended and a refinancing schedule should be made.

Federation has also urged prime minister as well as chief ministers of the provinces and concerned offices to fulfill their demands.
