Russian Covid-19 Vaccine coming to Nepal? Government has no idea about a private company signing an agreement

The government has expressed ignorance about the alleged agreement made by Trinity Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical importer, to bring the coronavirus vaccine to Nepal.

The Ministry of Health and Population has given such a response after the news became public that Trinity Pharmaceuticals had agreed to bring 25 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine 'Sputnik-5' to Nepal.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIS) said in a statement that it had agreed to provide 25 million doses of the vaccine for sale in Nepal.

Ministry spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said that there was no information about the corona vaccine coming to Nepal so far. He informed that it is not possible to bring the vaccine on one's own. He said, "Government's approval should be sought to bring the vaccine to Nepal." We have no information about this. We are looking for the company that came in the news.

What do they do outside, but vaccines cannot be brought from such a system. '

Senior Drug Manager of the Department of Drug Management Santosh KC also said that there was no information about the vaccine. He said that despite hearing the news from the media, no official information has been received.

Bringing any vaccine to Nepal requires approval from the Department of Drug Administration and the National Health Research Council.

He said that if any medicine or vaccine is to enter the market, it must be approved by the council after conducting study and research by the department. However, he acknowledged that he had no further information about that.

According to him, when importing vaccines to Nepal, it needs to be studied what kind of vaccines are the importers going to bring and from which company.

The department will approve the vaccine only after studying whether it has been approved by the World Health Organization and its quality.

The coronavirus vaccine said to be brought by Trinity Pharmaceuticals is still being tested, so the vaccine must first be approved by the World Health Organization for use in humans. But how effective is the vaccine in humans because it is still being tested? It is unknown at this time whether the vaccine will be approved.

Kishor Adhikari, director of Trinity Pharmaceuticals, said that at present there is only an agreement with the Russian company to bring the vaccine against corona.

He said that the process of getting approval to bring the vaccine will be started only after the completion of the test of 'Sputnik-5'. According to him, the current agreement is only an initiative to bring the vaccine to Nepal.

"We have just done an agreement now. When the trial of this vaccine is passed, then we take that document and go to the process of bringing the vaccine to Nepal. They cannot be brought to Nepal without passing the trial and without the approval of the government, ”he said.
