Ranipokhari to be inaugurated by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday

 

352-year-old Ranipokhari and Balgopaleshwar temple have been rebuilt in the old style after five years of earthquake.

Reconstructed historic Ranipokhari is scheduled to be inaugurated by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday. Earlier on Tuesday, Urban Development Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha had inspected Ranipokhari and Balgopaleshwar temple.

Ranipokhari and Balgopaleshwar temple were completely damaged due to the devastating earthquake of 2072 BS. But overcoming various obstacles, construction of Ranipokhari and Balgopaleshwar temple has been completed.

On the occasion of National Earthquake Day on January 20, 2072 BS, President Bhandari had started the reconstruction of the property damaged by earthquake from Ranipokhari.

Reconstruction of Ranipokhari has been completed under the direct direction of government and Prime Minister, said Urban Development Minister Shrestha. Minister Shrestha informed that Ranipokhari will be inaugurated on Wednesday amidst special programs.

It is mentioned in the inscription that Ranipokhari was built in 1727 BS to appease the queen after the death of Pratap Malla's son Chakravartendra.

Balgopaleshwar temple was established in the middle of the pond at that time. The king built the pond in memory of his son Chakravartendra.
