Protest demanding unconditional registration of Khash community as Adivasi

Khashan National Struggle Committee has protested against the deprivation of Khash community from being included in Adivasi and demanded that Khash community should be listed as Adivasi unconditionally.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday, the committee warned that if it does not complete its strike by November 22, it will be forced to go on indefinite general strike and government itself will be responsible for the consequences.

The committee has put forward various 26-point demands. Among the demands put forward by the committee are that Khash community living from time immemorial should be listed as Adivasi, 10 plus 1 provinces should be declared on the basis of the recommendation of the State Restructuring Commission and the provinces should be named as autonomous, protected and special areas.

Similarly, leaving Tharuhat on 5 bases and 4 bases of strength, Mahakali, Seti, Bheri, Chairman of the committee Prem Bahadur Khati said that they have demanded that Karnali zone be declared Khashan province.

Chairman Khati demanded that Khash community should also be listed as Adivasi as all the criteria for listing among the Adivasi have been fulfilled as per Adivasi Janajati Utthan Rashtriya Pratisthan Act-2058 BS to establish the historical identity of the Khash community.

Other demands put forward by the committee include the formation of a Khash Commission to investigate the history, geography, language, religion and cultural traditions of the Khash.
