Lalitpur Municipal Corporation has provided Rs 1 million assistance to Zoo in Jawalakhel of Lalitpur.
Metropolitan Chief Chiribabu Maharjan handed over a check of Rs 1 million to zoo chief Chiranjivi Pokhrel during a function on Thursday.
Mayor Maharjan said that metropolis had provided financial assistance after finding out that the ticket source, the main source of income, was closed due to Corona epidemic.
Mayor Maharjan also clarified that many employees are working without pay and zoo is finding it difficult to raise 1,000 wild animals due to Corona epidemic.
Mayor Maharjan said that as zoo is also the heritage of metropolis, other organizations should also help in case of any problem. Mayor Maharjan also assured that metropolis is ready to provide more assistance tomorrow.
Mayor Maharjan also informed that monkeys, birds, dogs and cows left on the roads in metropolis have been managed along with the relief distribution. On the occasion, Mayor Maharjan also wished Vijayadashami and Nepal Sambat to the people of metropolis.
