Korean language test to be taken to South Korea for 2020 through the Employment Permit System 9EPS will be held only in 2021.The process of going to Korea after completing language and skill test as per the regular schedule has been postponed due to Covid-19.
Kumar Dahal, Director General of Department of Foreign Employment, said that preparations are being made to conduct the examination in the coming month of Pusarmagh even though there is no immediate examination as the risk of corona remains.
Director General Dahal said that as 90,000 applicants are preparing for the exam to go to South Korea for the year 2020, exam will be held even if it is seven or eight months later than the regular schedule.
Director General Dahal said Korean Department of Human Resources (HRD) had indicated that Korean language test could be postponed for another three to four months as the risk of corona remained high.
Director General Dahal said, "We are in touch with HRD. Exam is held as soon as it becomes comfortable, but it does not seem to be easy for three / four months.”
Director General Dahal added that HRD, which monitors Korea's EPS, has not yet given any information about the language test, but the test will be delayed. EPS language test, which started in 2008, had not been conducted before in 2012.
Although corona infection is under control in Korea, it is increasing in Nepal. Since it is not possible to conduct the examination by gathering thousands of people at such a time, Nepali side has not taken any initiative to conduct the examination.
Although an average of 8,000 Nepali youths go to Korea from Nepal annually, only 1,027 Nepalese went to Korea for employment in the first nine months of this year, according to the branch.
In 2019, 7,136 Nepalese went to Korea for employment. So far, 66,872 Nepalese, including 4,020 women and 62,852 men, have gone to South Korea for employment. Currently, there are about 31,000 Nepalese working in Korea.
