Katyayani is being worshiped on the sixth day of Dashain

On Thursday, the sixth day of Bada Dashain is celebrated by Hindus by worshiping Katyayani Devi.

Goddess Katyayani is described in Hindu scriptures as a symbol of courage. It is mentioned in the scriptures that Goddess Katyayani came to this world to prevent obstacles from demonic demons while doing good deeds including charity.

It is mentioned in scriptures including Devi Bhagawati that Goddess Katyayani killed the demon by riding on a very powerful lion. Goddess Katyayani is also considered to be the solar incarnation of mother Parvati.

There is a religious belief that worshiping Goddess on the occasion of Navratri brings strength, prosperity and knowledge. On this basis, followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma pay special homage to the Goddess every year from Ashwin Shukla Pratipada to Navami.

The offerings, which are worshiped for nine days, are offered from Vijayadashami to the full moon day of Kojagrat.

Devotees flock to Shakti Peeths across the country on Navratri to pay their respects, but many temples are closed this year due to the spread of corona virus.

Some temples have been opened by maintaining physical distance and with health protection methods. Devotees visit the open temples.
