Karnali CPN leaders in the Capital amidst disputes

The main leaders of Karnali Province, including the Chief Minister, are in Kathmandu after a dispute erupted in the ruling party of Karnali Province. CPN (Maoist) Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have instructed them to wait for the party's decision to resolve the dispute.

Prime Minister Oli summoned the Karnali leaders to Baluwatar on Saturday and said that the party would resolve the dispute within a few days.

The controversy erupted after 18 state parliamentarians of the CPN filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi in the parliamentary party on Asoj 25.

After that, the two presidents Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal summoned the main leaders to Kathmandu. A leader who attended the discussion said that Oli had instructed the chief minister to wait for the decision of the party center saying that he was not in the minority.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister had discussions with Chief Minister Shahi, leaders of the no-confidence motion and the party's Karnali Deputy In-Charge Yamlal Kandel, CPN-Karnali Chairman Gorakh Bahadur Bogati, Economic Affairs Minister Prakash Jwala, state MP Gulab Jung Shah and others.

The Prime Minister has informed that the party will resolve the dispute through discussion. He has instructed the leaders not to leave Kathmandu until a decision is made.

Chief Minister Shahi, on the other hand, did not speak to the Prime Minister about the proposal against him. Instead, the Chief Minister said that he was ready to accept the decision of the party.

CPN-Karnali Secretary Maya Prasad Sharma said that the dissidents had informed the Prime Minister about the weaknesses of the state government and the work done by the Chief Minister. Both sides had their say.

After hearing the views of both the parties, the Prime Minister said that the party would take a decision within a day or two.

The Prime Minister had said that no one in the CPN would be insecure because they had different views. "No one's position should be vacated by a motion of no-confidence." A solution can be found through discussion, ”said a leader who attended the meeting, quoting the Prime Minister.

Leader Kandel had said that the no-confidence motion was tabled according to the sentiments of the people and MPs of Karnali but now the leaders of the Center were trying to politicize the no-confidence motion in the name of partisanship. Kandel has been claiming that the no-confidence motion remains because no lawmaker has withdrawn their signature.

According to the leaders, the two presidents will now discuss and decide on Karnali. Leaders of both the sides have said that they will move ahead as per the decision of the party. "It simply came to our notice then.

There are many problems in Karnali. We have informed the Center about this', said MP Shah, 'The Center has finally heard the problem of Karnali.'

The prime minister was scheduled to hold a group discussion with another chairman, Dahal, on Saturday. Dissatisfied with Oli’s cabinet reshuffle, Dahal did not participate in the group discussion.

Dahal was also furious that he had recommended the appointment of ambassadors alone. According to Dahal's secretariat, Oli has been asked to hold a one-on-one meeting with Karnali leaders.

Oli also tried to invite CPN leader Janardan Sharma to the discussion. However, Sharma said he was not feeling well and would not participate in the discussion.

Another chairman Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal had earlier held separate discussions with the Karnali state leaders. Eighteen lawmakers from the former UML and the former UCPN (Maoist) had filed a no-confidence motion against the chief minister.

Amidst the dispute, the proposal did not move forward after an agreement was reached between the former Maoists and the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the former UML.
