Journalists and staffs who have been made victims of Corona epidemic from various media houses have staged a demonstration in Baluwatar.
Journalist have staged a demonstration in Baluwatar to draw the attention of the government by banging plates and asking, Where is the government under the leadership of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Working Committee for the Promotion of Working Interests and the Joint Struggle Committee for Victims / Employees Joint Struggle Committee. Journalists chanted slogans saying that government has not been able to implement Working Journalists Act.
Journalists have been agitating saying that they have not been given salary facility due to Corona epidemic and have been forcibly fired from their jobs despite repeatedly raising their voices against the excesses and exploitation of the media.
During the protest, General Secretary of Federation of Nepali Journalists Ramesh Bista said that Working Journalists Act should be repealed. General Secretary Bista says state has shown no interest in starving journalists to death in the wake of Corona epidemic.
Journalists had gone on a five-day relay strike in Baneshwor from September 3 to 4 in the first phase of the agitation. The committee has also warned to announce the next phase of the agitation saying that their demands have not been heard.
