Nurses agitate for initiative to solve problem

Nurses have been agitating saying that no initiative has been taken to solve the problems in the nursing sector.

Nurses have staged a sit-in in front of the office of Nepal Nursing Association on Monday saying that initiatives should be taken to solve the problems of the overall nursing sector.

Nurses said that they were agitated saying that nurses working in the front line during corona transition were given a reduced salary instead of an allowance.

Nurse Kalpana Rijal, who participated in the sit-in, said that they had agitated saying that their demands had not been heard even though the association had submitted a 65-point demand to the nursing association a year ago.

Nurse Kalpana Rijal said that government should provide safety equipment including PPE to nurses and provide risk allowance as nurses are at high risk of infection when they work in the hospital due to the time of corona infection.

Nurses also said that some government and private hospitals had forced them to quit their jobs by cutting their salaries even during Covid.

Stating that Nepal Nursing Council has given a nursing license to a young woman studying Ayurveda, they have also demanded action against the officials of the council for issuing a license to a person who has not studied nursing.
