Machhenarayan fair postponed

Bathing fair at Machhenarayan in Chandragiri Municipality-9 has been postponed this year due to the corona virus pandemic.

This year, from 2 September to mid-October, there has been excessive rain.

Mayor Ghanshyam Giri informed the RSS that the Machhenarayan Mela, which is crowded with thousands of people, has been postponed due to the ban on the spread of Corona virus in the Kathmandu Valley.

There is a religious belief that Lord Narayan will be happy if he goes to Machhenarayan and takes a bath and donates Malpuwa during the extra month called Purushottam Mass.

Municipality has stated that the fair has been postponed due to the fear of spreading corona due to the crowd of millions of devotees in a month.

Due to Corona, even Indrajatra was celebrated with apology this year. Although rath yatra of Rato Machhendnath was delayed and symbolic, concerned bodies have made preparations to end the procession without seeing Bhoto.

During extra months, 2 million religious tourists used to go to Machhenarayan region to worship Machhenarayan. Even though Machhenarayan Fair has been postponed, special worship of Purushottam Bhagwan at Narayan Temple during extra month is still going on, according to the municipality.

The first of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu is mentioned in various religious books in the pool here.

Ram Shrestha, a local, said that government did not pay attention to the development of the place even though it was the place where God first took incarnation as Matsyanarayana. RSS
