A shootout has erupted between the two countries' armies on the southbank of Lake Pengong on the Indo-China border in Ladakh. The shooting took place on the Indo-China border after 45 years.

China's state-run media, the Global Times, reported that Indian troops had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and returned fire. A Chinese military spokesman told the Global Times that they had retaliated.
