Ban on production and sale of 9 companies sanitizers

It has been found that hand sanitizers made by mixing chemicals that have serious effects on human health are being sold and distributed.

The toxic chemical methanol has been found in the sanitizers of various companies being sold and distributed in the market.

Narayan Dhakal, director general of Department of Drug Management, said that the production and sale of sanitizers of nine companies has been stopped after testing at National Drug Laboratory was found to be non-compliant.

Director, Dhakal informed that production and sale of hand sanitizer has been stopped after department found a toxic chemical methanol contrary to standard 'Instant Hand Sanitizer Level 2076' while collecting samples of hand sanitizers for sale in the market.

Director, Dhakal informed that the production and sale of hand sanitizers of nine companies selling methanol mixed with human health has been banned.

Director, Dhakal also urged all not to use the hand sanitizers of the companies banned by the department.

The department has expedited monitoring and testing of hand sanitizers in the market after the demand for hand sanitizers increased in the market after corona infection and some traders were found making and selling substandard sanitizers for vested interests.

The department has earlier banned the sale and distribution of substandard sanitizers produced by various companies.
