Tik-Tok's chief executive resigns

Kevin Meyer, chief executive of popular video sharing application Tiktok, has resigned.

Mayer, who was appointed chief executive just a few months ago, said he was "deeply saddened" to leave the company.

Both Chinese companies are in crisis after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order warning the United States to ban messaging applications including WeChat, Tiktok's founding company. Users of the Chinese messaging app WeChat in San Francisco have filed a lawsuit against President Trump's order.

Vanessa Pappa, general manager of North American Ticket, will be the company's interim chief. Tik-Tok also confirmed Mayer's resignation, saying that Mayer's role had changed in recent months due to US political developments.

Yimming Zhang, founder and chief executive of Bitedance, has admitted that there are problems with his company in India and the United States.
