Resumption of 'No Objection' Letter

The government has decided to resume the issuance of 'No Objection' letters for students going abroad to study.

At a press conference held at Singhadurbar on Thursday to announce the decision of the cabinet meeting held on August 26, government spokesperson Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said that the government has decided to resume the issuance of study permits to students who want to study in foreign universities.

The government had stopped distributing no-objection letters to students since last April due to the corona virus.

The meeting has given approval to the Ministry of Finance to take forward the process of accepting concessional loan of around Rs. 11.65 billion from the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

Spokesperson Khatiwada also said that it has been decided to pass the technical operation process and reporting of the programs sent through conditional financial transfer at the state and local level.

Spokesperson Khatiwada informed that it has been decided to appoint Gyan Prasad Bhusal as the co-counsel and post him at the Public Prosecutor's Office, Dhankuta.

At the same meeting, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies Balram Rijal has been given the responsibility of Executive Director of the Special Economic Zone Authority and in-principle approval has been given for drafting a bill related to e-business.

Similarly, Chief of Army Staff Saroj Kumar Adhikari has been promoted to the post of Chief of Army Staff and 12 Brigadier Generals have also been transferred, said Khatiwada.

At the press conference, Khatiwada said that no temporary post has been created considering the condition of  Covid.  Government had approved temporary posts in the commission and fixed term projects from the last cabinet meeting.

Spokesperson Khatiwada says that new appointments and temporary posts will not be created to save money. Spokesperson Khatiwada said that there was no discussion and decision in the Council of Ministers regarding the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

The Council of Ministers has also decided to have three participants including the Foreign Secretary in the 21st Senior Official Meeting of BIMSTEC.

A three-member delegation has been decided by the Council of Ministers at the meeting to be organized by Sri Lanka. Khatiwada informed that the committee was formed as per the provision that the meeting should be held after the meeting becomes virtual.
