Kathmandu Mayor : ‘Don’t Leave Valley, Don’t Come to Valley”

Vidya Sundar Shakya, chairperson of the Upatyaka Mayor's Forum and mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has appealed to the public not to go out of the house during restriction.

As the government has issued a one-week injunction through the district administration office, Shakya has appealed to abide by it. He also urged the people to leave the house only for urgent work.

Similarly, he has requested that no one should leave Kathmandu and no one should come to Kathmandu while the infection of Covid-19 is still alive. He also requested to inform the nearest ward office or police office if any person has already arrived.

Mayor Shakya has also appealed to inform the ward office and police office immediately if he finds out that any person in his neighborhood has come from outside Kathmandu.

Anyone with similar symptoms is requested to contact the nearest health facility.

He said that if they are unable to go to the health office, they can go to the hospital by informing the ward office or the nearest police office or by contacting the Nepal Ambulance Service operated with the financial support of Kathmandu Metropolitan City on phone number 102.

He said that there is a tendency to go around the market even after collecting swabs for PCR testing and there are problems in contact tracing as some people have given wrong information.

Mayor Shakya also expressed the government's commitment not to let anyone die because of the corona.
