India Almost Doubles Security Personnels in Kalapani Area

India has doubled the number of security personnel in the border area from Dharchula to Kalapani. It has deployed thousands of security personnel at various outposts of Nabidhang from Tambaku to Lipulek. At present, hundreds of SSB and army vehicles are deployed daily on the road section from Dharchula to Lipulek.

Locals say that India has increased patrolling in the border area through vehicles.

After the Nepal government set up a Nepal Army camp in Ghatibagar, India has widened roads in its side of the territory. Local Sher Singh Dhami informed that India is expanding roads in the area with the help of heavy equipment. India has been detonating explosives across from the Nepal Army camp.

During the construction of the road connecting Lipulek, India has brought dozers through Nepali land from Mahakali through Tambaku, Ghatibagar, Dopakhe, Pola, Budi and other areas and taken them to dig the road in its territory.

India has not  coordinated with the Nepali side in bringing dozers to Nepali territory. After the government of Nepal made public the geography of Kalapani, Lipulek, Limpiyadhura, Gunji, Navi and Kuti villages, the Indian side has deployed security personnel in the area daily.

According to the locals, security personnel have been deployed from Gunji to Kalapani and Navidhang.

"The area is now very sensitive to the Indian side," said locals in Vyas. The Indians are now blocking the movement of Nepali security personnel and locals who have come down from Kalapani.

Nepal has decided to set up Armed Police Force Nepal No. 50 Gulm in Chhangaru of Vyas and is also setting up Border Out Post (BOP) of the Armed Police Force at Kauwa and Tinkar near Kalapani.

The Nepal Army has set up camp in the area for construction of horse-routes and roads. The proposal to keep the Nepal Army in the shadow of Vyas has also gone through the Api Nampa Conservation Area Office and the District Security Committee.

Chief District Officer Sharad Kumar Pokhare said, "The army may also be present in the area to strengthen the security situation." We have given high priority to the border checkpoints and sent them assignments from the district. ”
