Automatic Electronic GPS system to be Used by Nepal Oil Corporation to track Tankers

Nepal Oil Corporation will work on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to minimize leakage and technical losses during the transportation of petroleum products.

The corporation has stated that it will go to the automated system through this software. For this, all the work of the corporation will be done in an electronic system.

Under this, the tankers transporting petroleum products will be monitored online by connecting  GPS to the ERP system and the activities up to filling and pouring of petroleum products will be monitored. There will also be records and monitoring of their routes, times and journeys.

Tankers coming to Nepal from India filled with petroleum products will also be monitored by incorporating this technology. The corporation has stated that the leakage and contamination will be controlled as the tankers will be monitored directly.

Currently, leakage and technical losses are within the prescribed limits, the corporation said. According to Upadhyaya, the leakage has been brought under control as of now.

The corporation has accepted 21 liters petrol and 15/15 liters diesel and kerosene per degree temperature as technical loss. Provision of ‘Lock System’ implemented before was unsuccessful and thus this GPS system is being started.
