Rastriya Mukti Morcha (NRMM), which is close to the CPN (Revolutionary) Maoists, has staged a protest in Kathmandu, saying that the government has cracked down on other projects including the fast track under construction in Khokana and Bungmati.
Demanding that the fast track should be centered outside Khokna, protestors protested against the police intervention in Khokna. Protestors said that farmers should not be displaced by bringing many projects in one place.
Earlier, there was a scuffle when the police intervened while the farmers were planting at the project site.
The government has a policy to bring 132 KV power transmission line, outer ring road, new satellite city, Bagmati corridor, Kathmandu Terai railway through Khokana and Bungmati. But locals have been protesting saying that the fast track will affect Kudesh and Sikali temples in Khokna.
