Melamchi Drinking Water Project has issued a circulation requesting the people from the lower levels of the source not to go near the river. The project's central office said that since water flow was being tested in the tunnels, there could be fluctuations in the water level in the lower lying areas of the source.
Mentioning that the flow of water in the river could suddenly rise and fall due to the testing, the project office has asked the people not to swim, fish, or take animals to drink water in the river.
It said that water could be released from Ambathan, Gyalthum and Sindhu, the entrance of the tunnel at any time. It has also requested people to inform the project office if they witness water emerging from the land at any place.
